CHRIS PRINTZ - HEAD VARSITY COACH Coach Printz enters his 5th year at the helm of the Golden Valley Boy’s Basketball program. A 1990 graduate of Simi Valley High School, Coach Printz was captain of 2 of the 3 league championship teams he played on during his Pioneer career. After high school he was chosen to play on a Southern California All-Star team that represented the U.S.A. in China. A graduate of California Lutheran University, Coach Printz turned to coaching after his playing days were over. In his 9 years as a Sophomore and Junior Varsity coach at Simi Valley High School and Newbury Park High School, he guided his teams to 2 league championships and 4 times was nominated as Ventura County Coach of the Year. In 2007, he was selected Coach of the Year in the Foothill League. He has an overall record of 195-116. Coach Printz also excels in the classroom where he teaches AP US History and AP American Government. His passion for teaching is reflected in the strong bond he has with his students and players. In 2006 Mr. Printz was selected by the Golden Valley student body as their Most Inspirational teacher. He is also currently the Athletic Director at the school. When not patrolling the sidelines or the classroom, Coach Printz spends all of his free time with his wife Leslie, a teacher of AP Psychology and Health at Golden Valley and their 3 children Kailey 9, Karly 3, and the newest edition to the Printz family, Wyatt, born last summer.
LARRY KEYS - ASSOCIATE VARSITY COACH Junior Varsity Coach Larry Keys has spent a lifetime reaching up the ladder to continually push himself to accomplish more. After building one of the most successful youth basketball organizations in the Southern California area, Coach Larry has brought his talents to GVHS. A 1987 graduate of Van Nuys High School and CSUN; Coach Keys lives and breathes the game, being a former starting point guard and Co-Captain for the Van Nuys HS Running Wolves. His enthusiasm is quite contagious in Grizzly land. In his 4 seasons at GVHS, Coach Keys has the best winning percentage of the coaches. Larry and his lovely wife Gretchen are the parents of three children Kayla, Kiara and Varsity player Khatari.
DAVID FIGUEROA - FRESHMAN COACH The Grizzlies are excited to have David Figueroa back on the bench in 2008-09. The consummate father figure for the Grizzlies, Coach Fig. will now instill his old school values and defense fundamentals into the Grizzly freshman. He has also been asked by Coach Printz to act as the Director of Basketball Operations and had the opportunity to become an NCAA Certified Coach last summer by coaching with the Branch West Basketball Academy led by Bob Gottlieb. A native of New York City and graduate of Husson College, Coach Fig. embodies the Grizzlies family mentality by living out a life long dream and coaching beside his son Larry Keys. He has been married to his wonderful wife Kim for over 25 years and has two sons, Coach Larry and David Jr., a JD/MBA senior at Temple University.
KYLE Mc ATEE – ASSISTANT COACH Assistant Coach Kyle McAtee, born here in Valencia, California has joined the coaching staff this summer and has proven to be a valuable asset. A member of the first graduating class of Golden Valley High School. Kyle is a former player and Co-Captain of the Grizzlies. At present, Kyle is the all-time leading scorer. Kyle was a team member from 2005 – 2007; was on the very first Golden Valley team that made it to the playoffs. Was the Tournament MVP for the Village Christian Christmas tourney. Kyle was named the co-mvp in 2006. Kyle is currently in his sophomore year at Los Angeles Mission College.
